An intriguing idea. I hope they pull it off.

Me too, things could go very wrong or very right for this movie. We'll have to wait and see.

On the topic of movies, what are your thoughts on Borat?

I haven't seen the movie, I've only seen some clips. Mr. Cohen can be very funny and his work can be sharply satirical. He often focuses too much on sexual humour and his Borat character is mildly offensive to Kazahks and possibly Muslims. Of course, his real target is America in this one. He might be intelligent enough to know how cartoonishly inaccurate his portrayal of a Muslim Kazahk is, but I don't think his audience is. I might rent this movie, but I'm not sure. I don't know what to make of it. Perhaps you can enlighten me?

I'm afraid I don't know what to think of it either. I am a lover of good satire, and the reviews of Borat from critics I respect are gushing with praise, but I have lingering qualms about seeing the film. Now, I haven't seen it, but from what I know of Borat it seems to be rather misanthropic: sure, he reveals the seedy underbelly of American society, but for what purpose? So that we can point and laugh at anti-Semitism and the like?

Yeah, this one looks funny. By the way Piet and Jon, I saw Borat, and it's not very funny. I did laugh at some points, but it's one of those comedies that has to push the line all the time, and more often then not it goes well over the line. I would not recomend it at all. Off of the comedy topic but still on movies, The Departed was amazing.

Thanks for the input Daryl, I thought that that might be the case. I also liked the Departed. It was biolent, but the acting, intensity, and characterization were amazing.

I haven't seen The Departed, but I have seen Infernal Affairs of which it is a remake. It is an incredible film, and it single-handedly rejuvenated the police-action genre in Hong Kong. Highly recommended.

I'll have to check it out (and likely deflate my opinon about the Departed)
